Chapter 5:
In the old testament, people would often think God was harsh. The way he spoke to the prophets to let the people know what it is they could do and couldn’t. For example the time God told Saul to kill all the man, women, children and the stalk of the Amalekits - 1 Samuel 15:3. Maybe God was growing tired of his creation disobeying that he had to send Jesus and completely change the manner in which they were taught. No more eye for an eye. This does not mean God loves us less or more than Jesus. In some cases certain people are just more harder to change than others and they do require the discipline of God. If you disobey him, he will sometimes send you into troubling times just to get your attention to change but, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1Corinthians 10:13. Seeing the love of God towards our life helps us easier to love others that we never thought we could.
