Chapter 3:
Would you have had envy over the most famous person in the 1st century? John the Baptist was the cousin of one of the most well known man in that time. He was preparing the way for the one who would die on the cross. But not many people viewed Jesus as worthy to be the messiah the old scriptures would talk about. John spoke proudly and loud of his cousin “But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals i am not worthy to carry.”There are times in life where we feel like someone has better things or, is out going and easy to get along. They socialize easier than us. “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30. When you were worrying about how great their life seems, you are devaluing your own. Jesus told John to baptize him. When in reality we ALL need to be baptized by Jesus. They both acted humble. Not seeing what great virtues each of them had if not, seeing the value they were in the eyes of God. Once you start to look at your life with great value and purpose, will you truly lose all envy towards on another. Start by thanking God for what you have. He knows your heart but he wants to hear it come from within out thru your lips. “The Lord in near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalms 145:18
